Iceland to Consider Kyrgyzstan's Invitation to Participate in the WIC This Year
In Geneva, on February 23, 2026, during the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jeenbek Kulubaev, held a meeting with Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iceland. This information was provided by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.
During the negotiations, possible ways to deepen bilateral relations between Kyrgyzstan and Iceland were discussed. The main focus was on areas such as trade, finance, climate initiatives, transition to green energy, education, and investments.
Kulubaev also invited the Icelandic side to participate in the World Nomad Games, which will take place in 2026, and in the Second Global Mountain Summit "Bishkek+25" in 2027. Gunnarsdóttir confirmed interest in these events and promised to carefully consider opportunities for cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their intention to continue an open dialogue, strengthen relations between Kyrgyzstan and Iceland, and agreed on the establishment of political consultations and the expansion of the legal framework for further cooperation.
