A new bridge over the Naryn River is planned to be built on the Bishkek - Osh highway. For this purpose, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is allocating a grant of $20.5 million. The Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications, Ulukbek Janibekov, announced this at today’s meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, which deals with issues of industrial policy, transport, energy, architecture, and construction.

The existing bridge was built 50 years ago, and its service life has expired. Additionally, due to the construction of the Kambarata Hydroelectric Power Station, it is expected that heavy trucks will pass through this bridge.

The committee approved the ratification of the grant agreement between the government of Kyrgyzstan and Japan. It is expected that the parliament will consider this document in the coming days.

The project is supported by JICA with the aim of improving transport links on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor.
