Starting from November 2026, Uzbekistan will launch an experiment to create a panel of people's representatives that will handle criminal cases involving particularly serious crimes. In particular, jurors will begin working in Tashkent and the Tashkent region. The corresponding decree was signed by the president of the neighboring state.
In addition, the judicial reform in Uzbekistan includes expanding the powers of investigative judges, who will now be able to independently cancel arrests. Lawyers will also gain more rights: they will be granted access to case materials at all stages, and the ability to send requests to government agencies will be free of charge. To support entrepreneurship, courts will be allowed to reduce fines for conscientious exporters.
