The blocking of TikTok hinders the development of digital entrepreneurship, despite the fact that Kyrgyz citizens continue to use the network via VPN
In Kyrgyzstan, the issue of the possibility of unblocking TikTok has been raised again. The Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy, Marat Tagaev, emphasized the importance of reconsidering the decision to ban this social network in the country during his speech at the board meeting on February 19.
According to him, despite the existing blockage, Kyrgyz citizens continue to use TikTok by resorting to VPNs. This, in Tagaev's opinion, negatively affects the development of digital business and creative initiatives among the youth.
It is worth noting that TikTok is a platform for creating and viewing short videos, owned by the company ByteDance. The social network was blocked in April 2024 at the request of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS).
