The Ministry of Culture proposes to lift the ban on the social network TikTok in Kyrgyzstan
Tagaev noted that the Center for Monitoring and Research of the Information Environment has been dissolved, and at the moment there is no structure in Kyrgyzstan capable of systematically interacting with social networks and information platforms.
According to him, despite the ban, many citizens, including young people, continue to use TikTok through VPN services. "We urge to consider the initiative to lift the ban on TikTok," the deputy minister added.
It is worth recalling that in May 2024, TikTok was blocked in Kyrgyzstan by the order of the State Committee for National Security. Unlike countries such as the USA and several European states, where the platform's blocking is related to data security and privacy issues, in Kyrgyzstan the decision was explained by "causing harm to children's health."
