In his statement on February 19, 2026, Akaev noted that he enthusiastically took on his new responsibilities. “We plan to be open to citizens, journalists, and bloggers. Transparency and accessibility are our priorities. When I was entrusted with this position, I immediately agreed, as Osh is my hometown where I spent my student years. I understand the responsibility I am taking on,” he emphasized.
According to Akaev, his predecessor, Jenishbek Toktorbaev, worked tirelessly, and new initiatives will be continued. “I am not a supporter of criticizing previous leaders. The projects that were started by Jenishbek Shermamatovich will be completed. I have already discussed the further development of the city with the president,” he added.
The mayor also highlighted the importance of renewing the approach to interaction with businesses and called for honest work. The president tasked Akaev with ensuring cleanliness in governance and avoiding manifestations of tribalism. “We will work on creating comfortable conditions for residents. We have many more of our own projects that we will discuss with the city council,” concluded Janar Akaev.
