At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Aigul Akhmedova raised the issue of the need to change the current rules for the mutual stay of citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.

According to the existing norms, which will come into effect on September 1, 2025, citizens of Kyrgyzstan can stay in Kazakhstan (and vice versa) for no more than 90 days within a 180-day period.

It is important to note that under these rules, the days of stay are cumulative and do not reset upon crossing the border. To "reset" the period, citizens must leave the country for at least three months.

Akhmedova emphasized that such restrictions create significant difficulties for citizens engaged in cross-border trade and having business contacts with neighboring countries.

In light of the above, the deputy appealed to the government with a request to reconsider these rules.
