Gulya Kozhokulova: "The main thing is to adhere to the Constitution and not rush events"

Gulya Kozhokulova, a deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh, expressed her opinion on the recent significant personnel changes in the highest echelons of power and also answered questions regarding potential candidates for the speaker's position and the upcoming presidential elections.

- Gulya Akmatkulovna, what are your expectations regarding the new speaker? Who might take this position after the resignation of Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu?

- At the moment, it is difficult to determine unequivocally, but the candidacy of Marlen Mamataliyev is actively discussed in the media and seems to be the most likely. The factions are currently negotiating and consulting, so a final decision is still ahead.

- We cannot overlook the recent events related to Kamchybek Tashiev. Do you think there is a chance he will participate in the presidential elections? Society seems to be divided into two camps.

- Honestly, it's hard to say. Every citizen has the right to participate in elections. The main thing is that the conditions outlined in the Constitution are met: age restrictions, experience, and other requirements. This is the foundation. Ultimately, the right to decide always belongs to the people.

- Nevertheless, there are rumors that if he decides to run in the elections, considering his support in the south, he has a chance of winning.

- At this moment, it would be inappropriate to comment on such assumptions. Everything depends on the decision of the Constitutional Court; let's not rush. Once the court issues a ruling on all legal matters, clarity will emerge.

Lawyers often say: "Gather three lawyers, and you will get five opinions." To avoid confusion, a clear and competent interpretation of the Basic Law is necessary. I urge everyone to adhere to constitutional norms and avoid populist statements.

Our society is quite mature and politically active, which is important, and it also demonstrates responsibility. People realize that the future of the country is in their hands. Using the current situation for personal interests is wrong. Such questions arise from time to time in any state, and I do not see anything unusual or "supernatural" in this, as it is sometimes portrayed. Even the recent statement by the speaker about resigning from his position indicates his political maturity. It shows that no one is clinging to their position at any cost. Everyone understands that the main thing is peace and stability in the country.
