The President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov, has signed a new decree that amends the organizational structure of the Cabinet of Ministers.

According to this decree, the Border Service has been removed from the subordination of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) and transformed into an independent state body — the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Cabinet of Ministers is instructed to adapt its decisions in accordance with the new changes and ensure their implementation.

The decree comes into effect from the moment of its official publication.
The Border Service in Kyrgyzstan has repeatedly changed its status and subordination over the past few years.

In 2012, the Border Troops were separated into an independent state body directly subordinate to the President.

However, in November 2020, the service returned under the control of the SCNS as part of the reform of the security forces. The then head of the Border Service was given the status of the first deputy chairman of the SCNS.
