Starting from February 10, 2023, the Kyrgyz Republic will open enrollment in state driving schools. New driver training programs will also be implemented, as reported by Kaktus.media citing the Office of the President of the KR.

Enrollment can only be done online through the official website avtomektep.srs.kg.

To submit an application, it is necessary to provide personal information, select the training region and the category of driver's license, after which the application should be sent through the platform.

After processing the application, the candidate will be enrolled in the driving school in their region.

As part of the new system, online training for theoretical material is provided. Several training groups have been created, which helps avoid overload and reach a larger number of applicants.

“Every day, new driving schools are connecting to the system. One school can train several groups simultaneously, which helps evenly distribute students across regions,” the agency noted.

As part of the reform, updated programs aimed at improving the quality of training, forming a culture of safe driving, and reducing the number of accidents on the roads have also been introduced.

The curricula include an in-depth study of traffic rules, enhanced practical training, the use of modern simulators, and the basics of vehicle maintenance.

Cadets who successfully pass exams and testing will be able to obtain temporary driver's licenses for a period of one year. If there are no violations during this time, they will be issued permanent licenses.

Earlier, in November, the head of the Office of the President of Kyrgyzstan, Kanbek Tumanbaev, announced plans to transfer private driving schools to state management. According to the new rules, training for category B licenses will last ten months, including training and testing. Training for category C will take 12 months. Classes in state driving schools will be held two to three times a week for two to three hours, and part of the course can be completed online.

Some entrepreneurs have opposed these reforms, while driving school students complain about difficulties in obtaining certificates due to the changes. Additionally, a number of deputies from the Jogorku Kenesh criticized the innovations, calling them "ephemeral reforms."

On January 29, the president signed a decree to suspend the activities of private driving schools. Sadyr Japarov also noted that there may be reductions in courses for top students.
