At the meeting of the International Affairs Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Gulya Kozhokulova proposed an initiative to revoke parental rights from migrants who leave their children in the care of relatives.

She noted that migration affects not only adults but also children. According to the provided data, 750 children are under the care of relatives, most of whom are raised by close family members.

Kozhokulova emphasized that there are many cases of violence against migrant children, often perpetrated by the relatives acting as guardians. Many such cases go unnoticed and have a hidden nature. She added that violence, especially against young children, negatively impacts their mental state, health, and future.

The deputy suggested exploring the possibility of revoking parental rights from those migrants who leave minor children unsupervised.

Gulya Kozhokulova also inquired how the prosecutor's office and other state agencies identify and handle such situations, as well as what responsibility parents bear for leaving their children in the care of relatives.

Deputy Prosecutor General Umutkan Konkubaeva responded that issues related to this topic are handled by social protection agencies, while the prosecutor's office oversees the process.
