At the meeting, a draft law concerning the ratification of the agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan on the gratuitous transfer of buildings and land plots in Bishkek and Astana for the needs of the embassies was presented.
Imangaziev noted that this agreement was signed back in 2005; however, it only mentioned two properties:
- The Kyrgyz side provided for gratuitous use for 49 years cottage No. 17 with an area of 531.66 square meters and a land plot of 0.17 hectares, located in the residential town of "Ala-Archa";
- The Kazakh side transferred in a similar manner cottage No. B-5 with an area of 555.9 square meters and a land plot of 0.247 hectares, located in the diplomatic town in Astana.
The updated agreement proposes to include one more property that has already been transferred by the Kyrgyz side. A building for the Embassy of Kazakhstan is already functioning there. The address specified in the previous agreement is now used as the residence of the Ambassador of Kazakhstan in Kyrgyzstan.
In addition, the new agreement will include two properties from the Kazakh side:
- A land plot of 0.7412 hectares in Astana, on which the new Embassy of Kyrgyzstan will be built;
- A building in Astana with a total area of 1267.8 square meters and a land plot of 0.125 hectares. Currently, the embassy is temporarily located there, and after the completion of the new building, this building will be used as the residence of the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan.
It should be noted that cottage No. B-5 in the diplomatic town of Astana, mentioned in the 2005 agreement, is planned to be demolished, as neighboring foreign diplomatic missions have long moved to other areas of the city.
The people's deputies unanimously approved the draft law on the ratification of the agreement in three readings.
