The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic has issued an urgent appeal to its citizens located in the United States. In light of the ongoing mass protests and the deteriorating situation in several cities across the U.S., the ministry strongly recommends that Kyrgyz citizens exercise heightened caution and avoid areas with large gatherings of people.
Furthermore, the Ministry calls on compatriots to refrain from participating in any protests, rallies, or demonstrations to avoid putting their lives at risk. Citizens are also reminded of the importance of adhering to immigration laws: it is necessary to carry original identity documents and to closely monitor the validity of visas and residence permits.
In order to provide prompt support to Kyrgyz citizens, the diplomatic missions in Washington and Chicago are on heightened alert. In the event of an emergency or security threat, citizens should immediately contact diplomats through the 24-hour hotlines: in Washington (+1 202 449-98-22, +1 202 256-2924) and in Chicago (+1 312 994-24-16, +1 312 929-34-42), or they can call the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bishkek at +996 999 312 002.
