The Trump Administration is Considering a Naval Blockade of Cuba
As of now, no final decision has been made, and there is a division of opinions within the administration — there are both supporters and opponents of this initiative.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio supports the blockade, while some officials express concerns that a complete halt to oil supplies could provoke a humanitarian crisis in Cuba. Currently, the island's economy is already suffering due to the cessation of supplies from Venezuela.
As Politico notes, the introduction of the blockade is being considered as one way to exert pressure on the Cuban communist leadership. Earlier, Trump emphasized that Havana should not expect oil and financial assistance from Caracas, urging Cuban authorities to negotiate with Washington.
