On January 20, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a presentation of a new strategy aimed at creating a modern logistics process of "demand - processing - delivery." The main goal of this program is to increase the number of voluntary blood donors from the current 300,000 to 900,000 by 2030.
The strategy, developed for the period 2026–2030, takes into account the recommendations of the World Health Organization. In particular, it is planned to increase the donation rate to 30 per thousand residents, while currently this figure is only 10. Such growth will allow increasing the blood supply in the country from 150,000 to 450,000 liters, which will be fully sufficient to meet the needs of medical institutions even in emergency situations.
Digitalization will be an important component of the reform. An information system called "Electronic Blood Product Accounting" will be implemented in the country, which will ensure transparent control over each liter of biological material—from the moment of collection to delivery to the patient. This will also allow for real-time integration of clinic orders with emergency services.
The funding for this reform looks impressive. This year, 308 billion sums (approximately 25.5 million dollars) have been allocated for the needs of the blood service. Over the next five years, the total investment in the development of this sector will amount to 1.75 trillion sums (about 145 million dollars). These funds will be directed towards the technical re-equipment of laboratories and the promotion of donation among the population.
