The first meeting of the Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan to UNESCO, Sadik Sher-Niyaz, with the new Director-General Khaled Al-Anani took place in Paris. During the negotiations, the parties confirmed their intentions to develop cooperation and more actively involve Kyrgyzstan in UNESCO's activities, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Kyrgyzstan reaffirmed its commitment to the protection of cultural and historical heritage, noting that the country has been elected to the UNESCO Executive Board for the period from 2025 to 2029. Sher-Niyaz emphasized that thanks to political stability and economic growth, Kyrgyzstan has made significant progress in sustainable development, which opens up opportunities for more ambitious goals.

The key priorities for Kyrgyzstan have become adaptation to climate change, protection of water and land ecosystems, poverty reduction, and the development of creative industries.

The Director-General of UNESCO, Khaled Al-Anani, positively assessed Kyrgyzstan's active participation in the organization, especially in promoting cultural initiatives. He also expressed readiness to consider the possibility of providing UNESCO patronage for two significant events: the VI World Nomad Games and the International Issyk-Kul Forum named after Chinghiz Aitmatov.
