
During the discussions, the parties emphasized that Kyrgyzstan is focused on active cooperation with UNESCO, particularly in the field of cultural and historical heritage preservation. Kyrgyzstan proposed its candidacy and became a member of the UNESCO Executive Board for the term from 2025 to 2029, which will allow the country to participate more actively in the implementation of the organization's priorities.
Special attention was given to Kyrgyzstan's achievements in sustainable development, which have been made possible due to political stability and economic growth. This creates opportunities for ambitious initiatives such as climate change adaptation, ecosystem protection, poverty alleviation, and the development of the creative industry.
The Director-General of UNESCO, Khaled Al-Anani, noted Kyrgyzstan's active participation in cultural projects, emphasizing the importance of these efforts. He agreed to consider the possibility of UNESCO's patronage for two significant events in Kyrgyzstan: the VI World Nomad Games and the International Issyk-Kul Forum dedicated to Chinghiz Aitmatov.
At the end of the meeting, both sides expressed hope for further strengthening of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and UNESCO, focusing on new joint projects.
