The deputy proposed to ease the requirements for school uniforms.
In his opinion, the focus is on the uniform rather than on the content of education.
“The school uniform may look attractive, but in most cases, it is uncomfortable. We do not take into account the opinions of children when making decisions for them. In different countries, approaches to school uniforms vary — here we have strict requirements: suits and trousers. If you do not follow these rules, you risk receiving complaints,” noted the deputy.
Bekeshev emphasized that in some regions, the situation with uniforms requires special attention.
“It is impractical to completely abolish school uniforms, as they were introduced to maintain discipline. However, it is worth softening the requirements. Why not allow students to come in comfortable clothing, such as t-shirts, sweaters, and jeans? Why must girls wear skirts? This is a legacy of the Soviet era,” he added.
The deputy also suggested introducing a “smart casual” style that combines elegance and comfort.
He appealed to the Cabinet of Ministers and the Ministry of Education to grant schools the opportunity to establish their own rules regarding school uniforms.
Additionally, Bekeshev mentioned the need to revise the requirements for deputies, emphasizing that not all members of parliament wear suits. “Why should security assess the appearance of visitors? These rules need to be abolished,” he concluded.
