“In February of last year, I initiated an important project. I gathered the head of the Cabinet and ministers to instruct them to build student dormitories in regional centers and to organize student rotation starting from September 1, 2026,” he noted.
Currently, a total of 10,000 budget places have been allocated for applicants in Kyrgyzstan: 5,000 for southern students and 5,000 for northern students.
According to the plan, students from the north will study in the south, while southern students will study in the north. In this regard, the president initiated the construction of dormitories in seven regions. However, as he noted, the project could not be completed on time and has been postponed to September of next year. “After the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit and the World Nomad Games, we will begin construction,” Japarov added.
Additionally, starting from September of next year, students studying under the budget quota will begin their studies under the rotation system.
“What effect will this have? In the future, we will be able to completely eradicate the ‘north-south’ problem. Among the 5,000 students moving from the north to the south, there will be those who will start families, leading to an exchange of cultures and mentalities. Similarly, among the 5,000 students from the south studying in the north, similar changes will occur,” the president explained.
In his opinion, if we act this way, in 20-30 years, the ‘north-south’ problem will cease to exist. “If we do not apply such methods, it will not be possible to completely eradicate this problem,” the head of state concluded.
