PM2.5 refers to particles with a diameter of less than 2.5 microns, which is 30 times smaller than the thickness of a human hair. These particles include dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. They contribute to reduced visibility and deteriorating air quality in large cities.
In the global air quality ranking as of March 17, Bishkek ranks 4th (as of 5:00 PM).
