PM2.5 are solid particles smaller than 2.5 microns, which is 30 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair. They include a mixture of dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. These substances contribute to reduced visibility, characteristic of large megacities.
According to the world air quality ranking as of March 5, Bishkek ranks 15th (as of 5:00 PM).
