PM2.5 refers to solid particles smaller than 2.5 microns, which is 30 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair. These particles include dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. They are the cause of smog, which is characteristic of large cities.
On a global level, as of March 15, Bishkek ranks second (5:00 PM) in terms of air pollution.
