The ecologist warns of the threat of toxic precipitation after strikes on oil storage facilities in Iran

Recent explosions at oil storage facilities in Iran have led to the release of toxic substances into the atmosphere, posing a potential threat to public health. This was reported by ecologist Anara Sultangazieva in an interview with the Kabar agency.

Sultangazieva noted that harmful chemicals contained in the black smoke released as a result of the explosions significantly harm the environment.

“When this smoke settles, it can fall to the ground with rain or snow, threatening the ecosystem. This can cause serious health problems for people, including respiratory diseases. Regardless of the causes of the incidents, the situation is extremely alarming. The international community must pay attention to this issue,” emphasized the ecologist.

At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh committee dedicated to agrarian policy, ecology, and regional development, Deputy Mahabat Mavlyanova expressed the need for monitoring chemical emissions and their impact on Central Asia.

“There is a likelihood of acid rain. How might this affect different regions? Are there possibilities for monitoring? This issue should be discussed at the government level,” added the deputy.

It should be noted that on March 7, it was reported that several oil depots in the north and west of Tehran were attacked. After the explosions, local authorities warned residents to stay home and avoid going outside during the rain.
