In Bishkek, three truck drivers were fined for exceeding permissible levels of exhaust gas pollution. The violations were recorded on February 19 as a result of a joint raid organized by the Environmental and Technical Supervision Service and the Patrol Police Department.

During the inspection, about ten diesel trucks were stopped, and three of them had air pollution levels exceeding the norm by 50%.

Control over the quality of exhaust gases was carried out using a special device — a smoke meter, which measures the light absorption coefficient of particles in the smoke. The device is installed in the vehicle's exhaust pipe, after which the driver is asked to increase the engine speed to 3000 RPM. If the readings exceed 50%, a violation report is drawn up.

The first violator was the driver of a Mercedes truck, whose emission levels were found to be above the permissible limit, resulting in a fine of 7500 soms. A similar situation occurred with the driver of a Sprinter minibus.

Additionally, officials also stopped a heavy truck with a trailer, which demonstrated the highest pollution coefficient — over 70%.
