PM2.5 consists of microscopic particles smaller than 2.5 microns. They are 30 times smaller than a human hair. They include various particles of dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. These substances contribute to the deterioration of air quality typical of large cities.
As of January 22, Bishkek ranks second in the world ranking for air quality and pollution level (as of 5:00 PM).
