PM2.5 consists of micro-particles smaller than 2.5 microns, which are 30 times smaller than a human hair. They include particles of dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. These substances are responsible for the smog characteristic of large cities.
As of January 16, Bishkek ranks 17th in the world air quality ranking (11:00).
