Turmush reported that the incident occurred on March 24, 2026. The dog attacked a veterinarian and a military serviceman. The next day, March 25, the animal was captured and destroyed. Laboratory analysis results showed the presence of the rabies virus.
The chief physician of the Batken inter-district center for disease prevention and sanitary-epidemiological supervision, Asel Koshbaeva, reported that on March 24, the attack occurred on two citizens who were bitten on their fingers. One of them was more severely injured, and both are undergoing treatment. They have been prescribed vaccination and will be under observation for three months. “The third victim killed the dog when it ran into his yard; however, there was no direct contact,” Asel Koshbaeva clarified.
According to her data, in 2024, 675 people received medical assistance after animal bites. In 2025, this number decreased by 104 cases to 571. Of these, 347 victims were bitten by dogs, while the remaining cases involved cattle, donkeys, small livestock, mice, cats, and rats.
“During this period, there were no cases of rabies among humans,” the chief physician added.
Currently, both victims continue their preventive vaccination and are under constant observation.
