Traffic Police: 39 People Died in Scooter Accidents Over the Year

In Kyrgyzstan, there is a rise in road traffic accidents involving mopeds and scooters. At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on March 11, the head of the Main Department for Road Traffic Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Azenbek Kozukeev, reported that in 2025, there were 1,015 accidents involving scooters, resulting in the deaths of 39 people.

In the first two months of 2026, there have already been 25 such incidents, claiming the lives of two individuals. Kozukeev noted that these tragedies were caused by the actions of scooter drivers.

The statistical data was presented in the context of discussing a draft law aimed at tightening the measures of responsibility for violations of traffic rules and regulating the use of mopeds.
