The State National Security Committee detained an Interior Ministry employee in Talas over a case involving the embezzlement of $35,500 from a Turkish citizen.
According to information from the press service, in April 2025, E.M.A., exploiting the trust of Turkish citizen H.K., received $35,500 from him, promising to implement a project for the cultivation and planting of expensive herbaceous plants of the "nightshade" genus for subsequent export to Turkey. It is specified that the cost of 1 kg of seeds of these plants is $3,000.
In October 2025, H.K. appealed to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic requesting action regarding the fraud. However, as reported by GKNB, the investigative authorities of the Ministry decided not to initiate a criminal case without conducting preliminary checks involving the applicant.
The Turkish citizen's repeated appeal to GKNB occurred on January 27, 2026, after which the case materials were transferred to the investigative authorities of GKNB through the prosecutor's office.
On February 24, 2026, E.M.A. was detained in accordance with Article 96 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic and placed in the temporary detention facility of the Talas city police department, according to GKNB information.
The agency noted that work continues to combat corruption and protect the rights of investors as part of a policy aimed at improving the investment climate and ensuring accountability of officials for violations of entrepreneurs' rights.
