15-Year-Old Schoolgirl Has Leg Amputated. Nephrologist Detained

On August 28, 2025, a statement was received by law enforcement from citizen Z.S., alleging a possible medical error that occurred at the National Center for the Protection of Motherhood and Childhood.

According to information from the press service of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate, the incident took place in October 2024, when nephrologist N.B. provided medical assistance to a minor, K.A., born in 2011. During the treatment, serious violations occurred, which led to the amputation of the girl's right leg.

Based on this incident, a criminal case was initiated under part 2 of Article 146 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, concerning the improper performance of professional duties by a medical worker, resulting in serious consequences due to negligence.

A forensic medical examination confirmed the grounds for charging the suspect. In accordance with Article 96 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, N.B. was detained and placed in the temporary detention facility of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of Bishkek.

The investigation is ongoing.
