Recall that in January 2021, Anarkulov, who held the position of head of the Information Policy Department of the Office of the President of Kyrgyzstan, was detained by the GKNB on charges of extorting a large bribe. The investigation established that he, using his official position, demanded money from a candidate for a high government position in exchange for assistance in the appointment, after which he was dismissed. He was later released and relieved of his duties. As of today, it is unclear how the investigation into this case is progressing.
