The rarest eagle found dead near a water body in the Sokuluk district
Initially, the dead bird was spotted by birdwatcher Azamat Khasenov, who immediately reported it to the ASBK Ornithology group.
This situation raises serious concerns among scientists. Experts note that a live pair of eagles had been observed in the same location the day before, just beginning to incubate. “The most alarming thing is that we were there yesterday and observed live birds that had started nesting. There were no signs of danger, but now even a protocol for inspection has not been drawn up, and the cause of their death remains unknown,” comments Omorova.
Ornithologists emphasize that the white-tailed eagle is listed in the Red Book of Kyrgyzstan as a rare species whose population is declining. Previously, these birds were considered only migratory, but last year, one pair began nesting on power line poles, which specialists monitored closely.
Experts are calling for an urgent examination to determine whether the cause of the bird's death was electrocution, poisoning, or other factors. Without an official report and intervention from the relevant services of the Ministry of Natural Resources, according to ornithologists, this case may remain without proper attention, which is unacceptable for the conservation of the endangered species. Recently, another individual of the eagle was successfully operated on at a rehabilitation center, but the current incident threatens the local population.
