The children sustained serious injuries and were urgently hospitalized.
An investigation has been launched in the Zhambyl region regarding the fall of children from the window of a multi-story building in Taraz, as reported by Tengrinews.kz.
The mother of the injured children is being treated as a suspect, having thrown them out of the window.
Currently, a pre-trial investigation is underway. The woman has been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. The police have not yet disclosed how she is related to the children.
“Two minor children (a boy and a girl) were hospitalized. Necessary investigative measures are currently being carried out. Based on the results of a comprehensive and objective investigation, an appropriate procedural decision will be made in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” representatives of the press service of the Zhambyl region police informed.
According to Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code, other details cannot be disclosed, the police reported.
According to the Zhambyl region health department, the children, aged 5 and 3 (born in 2021 and 2023), were admitted to the hospital with closed traumatic brain injuries and acute brain swelling.
“The child born in 2021 was also diagnosed with a closed femur fracture with displacement. Both children underwent CT scans of the brain, chest, and pelvic bones, as well as laparosynthesis. They received medical assistance to reduce brain swelling,” the health department stated.
An additional surgery on the femur is planned for the child born in 2021.
In 2025, a similar tragic incident occurred in the Pavlodar region. In the summer, in one of the buildings in Pavlodar, a woman threw her two young sons out of the fifth-floor window, after which she jumped down herself.
All three were urgently taken to intensive care with severe injuries. The one-and-a-half-year-old child died two days later, while the older boy survived.
It later emerged that the woman had been registered at a specialized medical institution. A criminal case was initiated on the facts of murder and attempted murder of minors.
As a result of the court proceedings, the mother of the children was found to be insane and was released from criminal liability; she was ordered to undergo compulsory treatment in a specialized psychiatric hospital with intensive supervision.
