According to the publication, the children, aged five and three, were urgently hospitalized with closed traumatic brain injuries and acute cerebral edema.
The younger child, born in 2021, was also diagnosed with a closed femoral fracture with displacement. Both children underwent a CT scan of the brain, chest, and pelvis, as well as laparosynthesis. Doctors performed surgery to reduce the brain swelling.
An investigation has been launched into the case, and the suspect has already been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility.
It is worth noting that last year a similar tragic case occurred in the Pavlodar region. In the summer, a woman threw her two young sons from the fifth floor and then jumped down herself.
All three were taken to intensive care with serious injuries. Unfortunately, the one-and-a-half-year-old child died two days later, while the older brother survived. The woman had a documented history of mental illness, and a criminal case was initiated for murder and attempted murder of the children.
As a result of the court proceedings, the mother was found to be insane and was exempted from criminal liability, being ordered to undergo compulsory treatment in a specialized psychiatric hospital with round-the-clock supervision.
