The collision occurred between a truck and a bus
According to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), a citizen of Kyrgyzstan driving the truck was responsible for the tragic accident in Indiana, which resulted in the deaths of four people, as reported by "Chicago24Online".

The incident occurred on February 3, 2026, at approximately 4:00 PM on S.R. 67, near County Road 550 East in Jay County. According to law enforcement, 44-year-old Gert Pretorius, driving one of the trucks, slowed down due to heavy traffic.
Following him was another truck driven by 30-year-old Bekzhan Beishkeyev. Preliminary investigation data indicates that he did not stop for the slowing traffic, crossed into oncoming traffic, and collided head-on with a minibus driven by 55-year-old Donald Stipp.

At the time of the accident, there were six people in the minibus, four of whom died at the scene from their injuries. The deceased were 50-year-old Henry Aiker, 25-year-old Menno Aiker, 19-year-old Paul Aiker, and 23-year-old Simon Giro.
On February 5, ICE released a statement indicating that Beishkeyev is undergoing immigration proceedings. The agency reported that after arriving in the U.S., he obtained a non-resident CDL issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Beishkeyev entered the country through the CBP One app.
ICE also stated that Beishkeyev was detained with the involvement of the Indiana State Police and is currently in an ICE facility in Fort Wayne until immigration procedures are completed.
The statement emphasized that the tragedy that claimed the lives of four people could have been prevented if strict immigration laws regarding illegal migrants had been followed.
