Georgy Georgievich Petrashov passed away at the age of 88, becoming a true legend of cycling in Kyrgyzstan. This was reported by the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The sports community both in Kyrgyzstan and beyond is experiencing a tremendous loss. Georgy Georgievich was not only an outstanding athlete and Honored Master of Sports of the USSR but also a distinguished coach who dedicated his life to the development of sports in the country.
For 13 years, he led the Kyrgyz SSR national cycling team, laying a solid foundation for future successes. Even after retiring from his active career, he continued to participate in international competitions among veterans, demonstrating that a true champion knows no age.
His legacy lives on in his son Evgeny and grandson Denis Petrashov, who have also achieved success on the international sports stage, continuing the dynasty of athletes.
