Citizen of Kyrgyzstan detained in Iraq has returned to her homeland — Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic commented on the incident involving a citizen of the country who was detained in Iraq, which sparked active discussions on social media.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, news about the detention of A.B. Jenalieva began to appear online on November 7, 2025. In response, the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Kuwait immediately began providing consular and legal assistance, as well as engaging with the Iraqi authorities to protect the rights of the citizen.

According to the information provided by the foreign policy agency, an embassy employee was in constant contact with the Iraqi side until the situation was fully resolved, and maintained communication with the relatives of the detainee, informing them about the current status of the case.

As a result of violations of Iraq's immigration regulations, a decision was made to forcibly deport the citizen.
She returned to Kyrgyzstan on December 26, 2025.
In connection with the incident, the ministry urged Kyrgyz citizens to comply with the laws of the countries in which they are located.
