At the end of August 2025, the press service of the State National Security Committee (GKNB) reported that on the 26th of that month, Senior Customs Inspector K.G.B. was detained. He became a subject of a criminal case related to giving a bribe of 1000 dollars. As the investigative authorities found out, the major offered this money to an employee of the Department of Internal Security and Anti-Corruption of the State Customs Service (GTS) for a favorable decision regarding a service investigation.
According to the case materials, Kamil, holding the position of Senior Customs Inspector, committed a crime against state interests. The investigation established that on August 5, 2025, at approximately 02:00, Inspector A.K., acting on operational information, checked the workplace of the customs mobile group in the Batken region. He discovered Kamil's absence from duty without explanation, which served as the basis for drawing up a verification act.
As a result of this incident, a service investigation was initiated against Kamil. On August 25, 2025, he was summoned to the administrative building of the Department of Internal Security, where, attempting to influence the course of the investigation, he offered a bribe of 1000 dollars. On the same day, around 18:10, he handed the money to A.K. in the office, and soon after was detained by GKNB officers.
At the court hearing, Kamil did not admit his guilt, claiming that on August 6, 2025, during his duty, he went out to monitor transit cargo. He noted that he returned to his workplace around 05:30 and was not notified of any verification act. According to him, the mobile group employees informed him about the act of absence from work only after his return.
The defendant also mentioned that on August 15, the head of the personnel department of the Batken customs sent him a request via WhatsApp, and A.K. later called him to request a meeting on August 25. During this communication, he allegedly did not bring money with him, although he hinted at its existence.
In court, witness A.K. confirmed that Kamil was indeed absent from his workplace without a valid reason. He also explained that, according to established rules, employees must keep track of their working hours and not leave their place of duty without explanations. After discovering Kamil's absence, an act was drawn up, and a service investigation was initiated.
The court found Kamil guilty under part 1 of Article 345 ("Giving a Bribe") of the Criminal Code and sentenced him to 8 months of imprisonment in a general regime correctional facility, starting from August 25, 2025. The time spent in custody will be credited at the rate of one day in custody for every two days of imprisonment.
It was also established that the arrest on the property belonging to K.G.B., which had been imposed earlier, will be lifted after the verdict enters into legal force. Both parties have the right to appeal the decision within 30 days.
