Atazov was arrested in the fall of 2025 on suspicion of organizing mass riots.
Recently, it was reported that another former MP, Kubanychbek Kadyrbekov, was also released from custody.
It should be noted that on November 22, 2025, mass arrests occurred when the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced the disruption of the activities of a destructive group planning riots after the elections to the Jogorku Kenesh. As part of the operation, several politicians, former deputies, and even the son of former president Almazbek Atambayev were detained. In total, law enforcement agencies reported the arrest of 10 individuals, who were later placed in custody by court order:
- Temirlan Sultanbekov;
- Shailoobek Atazov;
- Ermek Ermatov (according to some reports, he was the driver of Temirlan Sultanbekov);
- Damir Musakeev (former head of the Ninth Service of the GKNB and deputy chairman of the special services, as well as head of state security for Almazbek Atambayev);
- Kadyr Atambayev (son of Almazbek Atambayev);
- Urmаt Askarbekov (a well-known businessman, Urmat Baryktabasov);
- Kubanychbek Kadyrbekov (former MP);
- A. u. E., born in 1993;
- K.N., born in 1993;
- Sh.T., born in 1986.
They are charged under articles 36 "Preparation for a crime," 41 "Types of accomplices," 278 "Organization of mass riots," and 326 "Violent seizure of power" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
