"Pickpockets Hit the Jackpot on the Minibus: A Passenger Had 595,000 Som, $400, and Gold Stolen"
A resident of the capital contacted the police on January 8, stating that her wallet had been stolen from her bag while she was in minibus No. 161. It contained 595,000 soms, 400 dollars, and jewelry worth 100,000 soms.
This incident was registered under Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, concerning theft.
Officers from the Main Investigation Department of the Bishkek City Police detained two men, who had previously had legal issues, at the Sary-Özön market. They are Sh.M. and Zh.A., both born in 1985. The Lenin District Court placed them in custody at the pre-trial detention center No. 1.
During a search of a Daewoo Nexia vehicle, stolen jewelry was discovered. According to the investigation, the suspects used this vehicle to move around. On the day of the theft, around 09:10, they parked the Nexia on Saltikov Street and boarded minibus No. 161 heading to the Dordoy market. Noticing the woman, they assumed she was selling at the market and soon committed the theft. Afterward, the men called a taxi and traveled to the location where they left their car, paying for the ride with 1,000 soms — exactly from the amount they had just stolen.
Law enforcement agencies do not rule out that the detainees may be involved in other similar crimes. In this regard, the police are appealing to anyone who has fallen victim to the actions of these men or has any information to contact them at the following numbers: 0 (509) 26-26-69, 0 (702) 07-12-63, and 102.
