The accused is a resident of one of the villages in the Bakai-Ata district, who faced serious charges for a crime against a child.
According to the decision of the Bakai-Ata district court, issued on October 6, 2025, the man, known by the initials J.A.S., was found guilty under part 2 of article 155 of the Criminal Code, which resulted in a sentence of 12 years in prison.
However, on December 15, 2025, the Talas regional court reviewed this decision. The convicted man was found guilty under part 4 of article 155, which pertains to violent sexual acts committed against children under 14 years old or individuals with disabilities. Based on part 5 of article 67 of the Criminal Code, which limits the sentence for men over 55 years old, he was given a final sentence of 11 years and 3 months in prison.
