The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, Erlis Akunbekov, shared information about food prices in the country and the measures being taken by the government to stabilize them, particularly regarding meat.
According to the government press service, a pilot project will begin in the Chui region and Bishkek aimed at developing a meat cluster using industrial fattening of cattle. This will allow for an increase in meat production and impact its cost.
As part of this project, state support for participants in the meat cluster is expected to be provided through preferential loans in 2026.
Farmers and agribusinesses involved in cattle fattening in the Chui region and Bishkek will be able to rely on loans with low interest rates. Financing will be carried out through the state banks "Aiyl Bank" and "Eldik Bank".
Additionally, to slow down the rise in food prices and ensure product accessibility for socially vulnerable groups, as well as to support local producers and stabilize the domestic market, food fairs will be organized on weekends in various regions of the country.
