As of January-February, Kyrgyzstan's GDP grew by 8.8% compared to last year's data

According to preliminary data, the gross domestic product of Kyrgyzstan in January-February 2026 amounted to 264.1 billion soms, which is 8.8% more compared to the same period in 2025. The service sector contributed 49.9% to the total GDP, commodity production accounted for 31.1%, and net taxes on products made up 19.0%. This data was provided by the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.

Industrial Sector. In January-February 2026, there was an increase in industrial production compared to the same period of the previous year, driven by an increase in production volumes in the chemical (by 3.1 times), pharmaceutical (by 1.7 times) sectors, as well as in the production of rubber and plastic products, construction materials, wood and paper goods, printing (by 1.6 times), vehicles (by 42.4%), food products and beverages (by 16.8%), refined petroleum products (by 18.2%), and basic metals (by 11.1%). The extraction of minerals also increased by 47.2%. However, the production volumes of electricity, gas, and steam decreased by 7.8% due to a reduction in electricity generation by 14.1%.

Water supply, waste treatment, and recycling increased due to a 9.9% rise in water collection and distribution.

Agriculture. In the field of agricultural, forestry, and fishery production, there was a growth of 2.6% due to an increase in livestock production compared to the previous year.

Construction Sector. The increase in gross construction output was associated with a rise in investments in fixed capital.

Trade. The turnover of wholesale and retail trade, including the repair of cars and motorcycles, increased due to a rise in retail (by 14.3%) and wholesale (by 9.1%) trade compared to January-February 2025.

Investments in Construction. The volume of investments in fixed capital increased by 11.5% due to a rise in domestic funding sources, while the volume of external sources decreased by 26.3%. More than 80% of investments at the beginning of 2026 were directed towards the construction of facilities in the field of mineral extraction, manufacturing, as well as energy supply, gas, and housing construction.

Foreign and Mutual Trade. In January 2026, the volume of foreign and mutual trade of the Kyrgyz Republic increased by 6.1% compared to January 2025, with the share of exports accounting for 12.0% and imports for 88.0%. The volume of mutual trade with member states of the Eurasian Economic Union amounted to 396.8 million US dollars, which is 11.3% more than in January 2025. Exports decreased by 15.7%, while imports increased by 17.8%. Russia and Kazakhstan accounted for the largest share of mutual trade, 68.6% and 29.0% respectively. Mutual trade with the EAEU constituted 37.7% of the total trade turnover of the republic, 45.4% in exports and 36.6% in imports.

The volume of foreign trade with third countries amounted to 656.1 million US dollars, which is 2.9% less compared to January 2025 and constituted 62.3% of the total trade turnover of the republic.

Prices and Tariffs. In January-February 2026, there was a 1.9% increase in consumer prices compared to December 2025. Prices for alcoholic and tobacco products increased by 2.2%, for food and non-alcoholic beverages by 2.1%, for non-food goods by 0.4%, and tariffs for services to the population by 3.6%. In February, the largest price increases were observed for fresh vegetables (by 10.4%), fresh fruits (by 4.0%), and potatoes (by 3.8%). Dairy products, cheese, and eggs also became more expensive (by 3.6%) as well as meat products (by 3.2%). At the same time, there was a decrease in prices for animal fats (by 0.8%) and flour (by 0.3%).

Consumer price growth was observed in all regions of the country. The most significant increase (4.2%) occurred in the Issyk-Kul region, where prices for alcoholic and tobacco products rose by 5.8%, and service tariffs increased by 12.1%. In the Osh region, an increase in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages by 3.5% and for non-food goods by 3.3% was recorded.

Compared to the previous month, in February 2026, the overall increase in consumer prices and tariffs was 1.2%. The growth in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages was 1.1%, for alcoholic and tobacco products 1.4%, and for service tariffs 2.9%. At the same time, prices for non-food goods decreased by 0.2%.

In February, the largest price increases were observed for fresh vegetables (by 5.3%), fresh fruits (by 3.2%), non-alcoholic beverages (by 1.6%), dairy products, cheese, and eggs (by 1.5%). Sugar (by 1.0%) and cereals (by 0.8%) also became more expensive.

Consumer price and tariff growth in February 2026 was also recorded in all regions of the country, with the largest increase (3.3%) occurring in the Osh and Issyk-Kul regions.

Wages. In January 2026, there was an increase in the average nominal wage in enterprises and organizations of all types of economic activity compared to January 2025. The largest increase was recorded in the field of administrative and support activities (by 49.4%), healthcare and social services (by 35.8%), professional, scientific, and technical activities (by 27.8%), as well as in the provision of electricity, gas, and steam (by 30.5%). There was also an increase in wages in agriculture, forestry, and fishing (by 25.3%) and in the real estate operations sector (by 23.1%).
