GKNB KR: An influential leader of the extremist organization "Hizb ut-Tahrir" has been detained in the Jalal-Abad region.
The State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic (SCNS) reports on operations aimed at neutralizing key figures and high-ranking members of the radical religious organization "Hizb ut-Tahrir," which is banned in the country.
In particular, on March 7, 2026, investigative actions were carried out as part of a criminal case aimed at eliminating the influence of leaders of this extremist group, which has an established structure in the Jalal-Abad region.
During the operation, "M.N.E." was detained, one of the significant figures of "Hizb ut-Tahrir," who was the masul (leader) of the Suzak district. He maintained connections with the central leaders of the organization both in Kyrgyzstan and internationally. In recent years, the detainee has actively engaged in promoting extremist ideology, recruiting new followers, disseminating extremist materials, and raising funds to finance banned activities, as reported by the SCNS.
After the detention, the suspect was placed in the SCNS pre-trial detention center, where work continues to identify structural cells and other criminal connections. It is important to note that the SCNS reminds citizens of criminal liability for participating in the activities of banned extremist and terrorist organizations.
