The Bishkek City Hall has identified the reasons for the rise in meat prices above 700 soms
The municipal inspection of the city hall conducted a raid at the markets of the capital, revealing unreasonable price hikes for meat. Instances were recorded where the price of meat rose to 800-850 soms, while the purchase price was 650-700 soms.
Inspection representatives noted that such markup indicates the presence of many intermediaries and insufficient control over pricing. “The price should not exceed 700 soms,” they emphasized.
During the raid, it was found that intermediaries purchase meat at 700 soms and then sell it with a profit of 30-50 soms, which increases the final cost for consumers. The municipality calls for stricter price controls.
