At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Almaz Imangaziev spoke about the current situation of Kyrgyz citizens in the Middle East. According to him, the conflict has affected countries such as Iran, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE, Bahrain, and Qatar.
As a result, these countries have restricted their airspace, and Turkey and Oman have implemented partial control measures.
Currently, about 20,000 citizens of Kyrgyzstan are in these countries. A particular challenge is observed in the UAE, where approximately 10,000 Kyrgyz citizens reside. Of these, 1200 people have requested assistance for evacuation, while the others are residents and continue their work activities in the UAE.
“By the president's directive, flights are planned to be organized through Oman on the night of March 5. It is expected that two planes will arrive for evacuation. The consular services are currently compiling lists and ensuring transportation for citizens to the departure point. Priority will be given to evacuating 360 people, including women, children, and the elderly,” he added.
