The Speaker of the Parliament met with the directors of schools in Bishkek
The Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, Marlen Mamataliyev, recently held a meeting with the directors of educational institutions in Bishkek.
During the event, which took place in the parliament's meeting hall, participants were presented with information about the new "Clean City" competition, which will start on March 1 of this year. Schools that take prize-winning places in this monthly competition will receive valuable awards.
Marlen Mamataliyev noted that in recent years, President Sadyr Japarov has initiated numerous programs aimed at protecting the environment and developing a green economy. He expressed confidence that this competition will be a continuation of these crucial initiatives and will help improve the ecological situation in the capital.
The Speaker also expressed his views on the problems in the education system.
“This year, an increase in salaries for teachers is planned. However, this is just the first step, and we will continue comprehensive support. Parliament will work on strengthening legislation to improve working conditions for educators and develop the education sector. We support all necessary initiatives and believe that it is time to make changes to the relevant laws,” he added.
Mamataliyev also touched on issues related to incidents among schoolchildren, emphasizing that teachers should not be blamed alone for this.
“We must not forget that upbringing begins at home. The involvement of parents, teachers, and the entire community in this process will help raise a worthy generation,” the Speaker noted.
In conclusion of the meeting, he wished good luck to all schools that decided to participate in the "Clean City" competition.
“This competition not only helps maintain cleanliness in our city but also fosters a sense of patriotism and care for the environment among young people. Labor is the foundation of children’s future, and it develops their responsibility towards society. Such initiatives need to be developed in other regions as well. We must strive to make our country greener and more prosperous. As our great predecessor Iskak Razzakov said: ‘If you are clean, if I am clean, then society will be clean.’ Each of us must care for our environment,” added Marlen Mamataliyev.
It should be noted that the competition for collecting plastic waste will take place from March 1 to May 1, 2026. The school that collects the most plastic will be the winner.
This project is being implemented with the support of the Jogorku Kenesh, the Bishkek mayor's office, the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, as well as the Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan.
In addition, Marlen Mamataliyev promised to provide financial assistance from his reserve fund.
