The Housing Committee approved the ratification of a $20 million grant from Japan for the reconstruction of the bridge over the Naryn River on the Bishkek—Osh highway.

- At today's meeting, held on February 24, the Committee on Industrial Policy, Transport, Fuel and Energy Complex, Architecture, and Construction reviewed the draft law "On the Ratification of the Exchange Notes between the Government of Japan and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic regarding the Reconstruction Project of the Bridge over the Naryn River on the Bishkek – Osh Highway." A Grant Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), signed on December 12, 2025, in Bishkek, was also approved.

Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Ulukbek Janibekov presented information on this issue.

According to him, the main goal of the draft law is to improve the transport connectivity of the Kyrgyz Republic with neighboring countries through the reconstruction of the bridge over the Naryn River on the Bishkek-Osh highway, which will ensure safer and uninterrupted traffic flow.

“The reconstruction of the bridge will take place in the Toktogul district of the Jalal-Abad region at the 315th kilometer of the Bishkek–Osh road. The Japanese government is allocating a grant of up to 3 billion 190 million yen, which is approximately 20 million 416 thousand 639 US dollars for the implementation of the project,” he added.
