On February 20, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, Adylbek Kasymaliev, made a working trip to the Issyk-Kul region, where he got acquainted with the implementation of several key projects in the field of renewable energy, reports the government press service.
The first stop of the visit was the village of Toru-Aigyr in the Issyk-Kul district, where Kasymaliev studied the solar power plant project being carried out by the company OshOO "Bishkek Solar". He reviewed the stages and prospects of construction at the displayed stands. Company representatives reported that work on the project is 80% complete. Initially, the project was planned for three years, but thanks to effective work, the completion time was reduced to two years.
The annual output of the station is expected to be 600 million kWh. The investment in the project is expected to reach 280 million US dollars by February 2027. The launch of the first phase with a capacity of 100 MW is scheduled for August 2026, with subsequent phases planned for August 2027.
The next site visited by the head of the cabinet of ministers was the construction of a solar power plant in the village of Kyzyl-Oruk, implemented by the Vietnamese company "Rox Energy Global".
Work on the "Issyk-Kul-1" project began in September 2025. This large-scale project involves a total capacity of 1,900 MW and investments of 1.4 billion US dollars. The station is expected to produce 3.6 billion kWh of clean electricity annually. The project will be implemented in stages: the first phase — 150 MW, the second — 450 MW, the third — 1,300 MW. The completion of the entire complex is planned for 2028.
During his visit, Kasymaliev highly praised the dynamics of project implementation and the activity of investors.
“What I saw is encouraging, the dynamics of project implementation is impressive. This is a vivid example of successful cooperation between investors and the state. The Cabinet of Ministers is ready to provide all necessary conditions and support for those who want to invest in the economy of the country, whether in energy, infrastructure, or agriculture,” noted Kasymaliev.
