The brother of the King of Great Britain, Andrew, was detained in the Epstein case

The investigation related to Andrew concerns new facts in the case of Jeffrey Epstein. The British Broadcasting Corporation reports that the arrest will allow investigators to seize necessary documents and conduct searches in Norfolk and Berkshire. The former prince may remain in custody for up to 96 hours or be released on bail.

According to British media, the case against Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is linked to his activities as a trade representative of the UK from 2001 to 2011. There is a suggestion that he may have passed confidential information and acted in the interests of Epstein. Currently, no official charges have been brought against him.

Abuse of office in the UK is considered a serious crime, with a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.

The Thames Valley Police statement reads as follows:

“Today, February 19, we arrested a man in his 60s from Norfolk on suspicion of a public office offense and are conducting searches at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk.”

“The detainee is currently in custody.”

“In accordance with national guidelines, we do not disclose the name of the arrested individual. We also ask that you remember that the case is under consideration, so caution should be exercised in publications to avoid disrespecting the court.”

Deputy Chief Constable Oliver Wright noted: “After a thorough assessment of the situation, we have initiated an investigation into this public office offense.”
“Maintaining the integrity and objectivity of our investigation is important, and we are working with our partners to establish the circumstances of the alleged crime.”
“We are aware of the high public interest in this case and will provide information as necessary.”
